Need some help to ID my Cymbidium?and whats the best potting mix to use

Please can you help me to ID my Cymbidium and give me good advice about what potting mixture is best for them ?

Cant help with the ID, there are far too many hybrids out there to label this one correctly. Now, living in England, your climate is good for these, but make sure it doesnt get too wet with all the rain! Grow them outside in warmer months, under cover. Water with driplines (these are awesome things) or water once a week/fortnight. Bark is best for these, although i have seen some people growing them in their gardens, they still to best in bark. Give 75/25 sunlight/shade, i find they do best with this ratio, and keep the air moving, otherwise nast fungal disease sets in

Thanks for the great advice it is most welcomed....reason i asked as many sites say different things,so my mind tends to go boom hehe...at the moment it is in some kind of peat with some bark and special foam bits that hold the water so keeps it damp longer....I was thinking about bark as i use this for most of my orchids i have.I did lose my other cym this year it was a beautiful large one,i put it out in the summer for while but it died...i was so upset so i brought another and hope this one will live for a very long time.

I would probably unpot the orchid when it finishes, reserve about 1/4 of the old mix and replace the rest with Orchiata. Mix the bark and the reserved old mix together and then repot. Simple! That way it doesnt stay damp for too long!

Yes it has not long finished flowering now and ive cut the flower spikes off....it is only a young one so has plenty of room in the pot yet...hey thanks for giving me some info what to do when i do change its mix....what is ( Orchiata ) sorry to say ive not come across this before ? At the moment it stays damp for like 4 to five days,In tmy garden their is hardly any shade as it is full sun all day...im trying to sort out something that will give shade then i can put out my cymb next year.

Lots of sun is good for cymbidiums as long as the weather is cool enough that the leaves don't burn. I am sorry to say that an ID is near impossible, but it's a lovely flower! Moisture retentive media is best for these

I see thanks for the info....i might try and find it on the internet as here in peterborough very hard to find good mix in garden centres....

Thanks for the info about the sun....just here in peterborough summer time is very hot and i dont have any shady areas....except in the mornings....

I see....one day i will try and make my own mix so how that goes but in the mean time i guess i have to buy from the internet..
