Back home with some new plants

Your new additions sound great. I have the angraecum magdalenae and sequipedale as well as a neo. My sesqu. is tiny, many years from blooming and the magdalenae is likely a couple, too. I did not realize that neos are night fragrant at and when mine bloomed the first time, I was so disappointed until a society member clued me in. The smell is wonderful.

Thanks Angela, where zi grew up we said what goes around, comes around. In order for me to rid myself of resentment of this woman I have hard work to do and that is pray for her to receive what she wants. Let me tell you that this is hard thing to do. Never-the-less all of my resentments and bad feeling are only hurting me and I am the only one who ca control what I do. Thanks for the kind feedback, that is wonderful Another of our bedrock fundamentals is to turn these type things over and ask for help. We have received such kind thoughts and wishes from reaching out to this forum, i can't express my gratitude and thanks. This forum is important to Maura and she feels real bonds of friendship here and you all have been so kind. Thank you so very much. On the one hand, I find myself playing "devil's advocate" and wondering if the woman grows mainly/strictly paphs and phrags and if so if her greenhouse conditions are simply unsuitable for other types of orchids. On the other, as a long time member, how could she not know ... or at least have a very good idea ... of what the requirements of the other genera are? Personally, I would feel mortified if someone left their plants in my care and the plants died or were failing by the time I gave them back. Add to that the other issues you mentioned, and I find myself unable to be so charitable as to give the woman the benefit of the doubt. Very disillusioning.

maura and phillip, i am new here but it really is devastating to hear about what happened. i can't believe someone would purposely sabotage a living thing like that. agreed that what goes around comes around. hearing stories like these just breaks my heart. good luck with the recovery process. with both the plants and yourself. do post pics of the new plants you received when you get a chance. looking forward to it.

Thanks Pave, I like you paying devils advocate because it give e an chance to flesh out some more of the details. As to her not knowing how to grow the types of orchids Maura had, she had a fe of most kinds. This is a woman who had her green house imported from
englad to match the Chrystal Palace, probably a $250,000 green house. She was president, last year of the Atlanta Orchid Society. Given, none of that shows that she knows how to grow orchids. It has past our mind several times that she buys nice orchid, keeps them until they die and then just buys some more to replace those that died. We should be think that way, but it makes you wonder. She is also the official AOS awards photographer and she e-mailed me to use any shots I might have had of the royal robe, that hers was the worst photo she had ever taken and was so bad as to render it unusable. We sent her two photos that really brought out the depth of color present. She said "never mind, I have fixed mine by resaturating hers. She hasn't turn it in yet and the award was given in very early September, but all those since has been turned in. I don't know that much about growing orchids but I do know photography and being 'esaturated means playing around with the color which is strictly verboten according to the AOS judgeing rules whhich are very much detaild when it come to photography, one of the main things your are NOT to do is play around withe color. Maura's ere perfectly good photos of this royal robe that she should have clearly used them.

Enough for know, it's getting me down and that's a bad place for me. Time to move on to other, more positive things and leave this in the past.

Thanks Yew, it is time to look for the good to come from this incident as there sure is. Time to move on to tomorrow,enjoy it and look forward to the next one. We live One Day at a Time. Thanks for letting Maura you were thinking of her, she has learned much from you and counts you as well as many others on this forum as friends.

Maura, I hope you are soon feeling better. Also, I can not imagine the disappointment and betrayal you must be feeling. That you continue to make posts complimenting other members' orchids reveals your true kindness, and shows that you really are trying to keep things in perspective. I believe your 'Abby's Wonder' will recover. Even in the 'after' photo you posted, it had a decent number of pseudobulbs, and they still looked plump. Orchids are fighters! I hope you are soon back to enjoying your collection and that you will for years to come.

Than you y'all, for being such staunch supporters! This has been quite a blow, but I trust I will come out the stronger for having gone through it. So many lessons in life come through difficult times, but what we make of them determines the kind of world we live in. I am working hard on compassion and forgiveness - hard, but it actually makes my life that much better. And you know what they say - "Living well is the best revenge."
