I think they're new growths (as they come from the base of the pbulbs, not between the leaves), but that's just a guess. Could be spikes, or even if they are growths, don't despair as more growths mean more flowers.

Certainly look like flower spikes to me. One way I can usually tell the difference between new growths and flower spikes is to squeeze very gently. New growths feel hard, where flower spikes have some 'give' in them.

I was totally duped earlier this spring/summer by 2 new growths that I thought were spikes. They were actually growing inside the last leaf so I thought they were spikes.
