A great fan of this strange and valuable pharmacological plants.

The photos are not so good but I managed to take photos of their present growth status.

All of these are locally Philippine Huperzia species.

hi, can you please tell us what are their requirements to thrive?

In temperate regions:

Hanging Potted or Basket Plants

- Sphagnum moss or peat moss is another option as plant media for this plants.
- Enclosed the plant base enough sphagnum moss or peat moss to support ample moisture and encourage faster root growth.
- Add small amount pebbles or small rocks below the plant pot, this makes a good drainage and good aeration for roots.
- Surround some of any bark chips and then put the plant enclosed with moss at the center.
- Water plants every 3 days and keep the plants under bright filtered light.
- Mist plants every morning, the plant needs to be dry after misting.
- Apply organic fertilizers to support growth.


In tropical regions where coconuts or moss are abundant.

Mounted plants
- Mount the plant's base with moss or old coconut fibers, tie it with plastic coated wires or twines in your own preferred plant location.
Some people used tree fern slabs but not a good idea for some conservation reasons. Sometimes it is mounted in a drift wood or even in a living trees.
- Keep the plants in bright filtered light. Some Huperzia species likes to be exposed during rainy days but they need to get dry as soon as possible to avoid a
crown rot
- Water plants every other day.
- Used organic fertilizers

Potted and basket plants
- For those who don't have any source of coconuts, you may used bark chips or peat moss combined with pebbles.
- For those who has plenty of coconut sources, use whole ripe and weathered brown coconut husk with shells remove.
- Place the plant in the coconut husk in the pot and tightened it with small piece of coconut fibers to avoid movement.
- Earthen pot is good but it is heavy, plastic pots will do as the plant becomes heavier later due to its stunt growth.
- If you don't have any whole coconut fruit but only coconut fibers or chips or coir dust, that would be another alternatives.
- If you are using coconut chips, be sure to keep your plant tightened so it would not make any movement.
- If you are using coco coir dust, ensure that it is not soggy in texture or else this will lead to rotting.
- Keep the plants under bright filtered light.
- Water plants every 3 days interval. When potted, they don't like being watered much like during rainy days.
- Used organic fertilizers
