In the southern hemisphere is now Cattleya purpurata time.
This species is blooming from mid of November until end of December.
This image is showing the anelata variety. In latin languages such as spanish (anillo), portuguese (anel) and italian (anello) it is the word for ring . Clearly can be seen the ring like purple coloring at the entry of the tube.
In nature this variety is seldom to find. Most plants commercially available are clones from C. purpurata anelata "Pinheiro".
