My Seedlings Have Arrived!

Alright, upon my nightly inspection it seems I have some yellowing of leaves on the Stanie and the Dend Spectabile.

How concerned should I be? Is there anything I can do?

They stay above 65 degrees and the humidity, with the exception of before I wake up in the morning, stays above %50.

I should change my username to "constantly fretting" hahaha.

Looks like classic sunburn. Keep them on the fridge, it keeps the humidity up cause of the humidity from the back, and the warmth up without using excess power. Either that, or string up a double layer of 'by the metre' shadecloth on the window (it is the stuff you buy from the garden or hardware centre by the metre or foot or yard in the US of A)

I'd like to move them to the top of the fridge, but there's no sunlight up there and I have no supplemental lighting, yet.

So, in compromise i'm going to move them to the back of my table and hope that's sufficient/insufficient light.

Our fridge is in a corner between a wall and the Pantry, and there is not much light, but enough. It sort of depends on how they were grown at the nursry-were they grown under lights? were they grown under normal situations?

I just made a humidity tray for them from an old chinese container and i'm hoping the back of the table is alright light.

I'm surprised they got sunburn, here I was worrying it wasn't enough light.

I would just chuck em on the fridge personally, or if you have a tropical fishtank, put them ontop of that

Give them a month or two and if nothing changes, give them more light

After all of my hesitation, I did a (seemingly hourly) check-up on the little guys and lo and behold!

New growth!

The Stanhopea and Kegelellia both have sent up some new growth, the brassavola seems to be working on it's roots and neither of the dendrobes seems to enthusiastic yet.

I just wanted to thank you all, and Kiwi specifically for all of your help.

They're currently on the top of the fridge and seem to like it quite well, that as well goes for the Kegelellia, so I think you may be on to something with the low light.

Interestingly enough, when I had them on the grow table, the dendro spect and the stanhopea were the only two to show signs of sunburn and with the dendrobe being so acclimated to harsh sunlight in it's native land, i'm surprised the kegelellia didn't shrivel up right then and there.

I have a mount for the brassavola and was told to mount when root growth is active, would this make it the opportune time to mount? Should I give it a little more acclimation time? Once mounted it wont be able to stay above the fridge due to insufferably low ceilings...

Thoughts or opinions?
