When hurricane Hugo hit us way back I was doing my internship and could not get home until late in the evening. I started moving plants all over the house (laundry room, dining room, workshop) until 2 AM when winds started. I had to leave many plants outside including 100 or so Dend. anosmum alba and a large coerulea vanda. As the storm passed I could see the vanda swinging back and forth. After the storm passed I only had 3 of my anosmum alba. The Vanda coerulea died but before saying goodbye gave me 3 spikes, all full and erect, 60 flowers or so, all flat. Cars went by and stopped to take pictures of it. We had a show in 2 weeks that I hoped to exhibit but was cancelled due to the damage the storm had made. In total lost about 2 grand in plants but the ones I saved were worth the trouble (did I mention we did not have any light or water for a week?).
