I just never understood the whole snob thing about species orchids. It just never made any sense to me. The problem is, I know good and well that if I put up pictures of 5 flowering orchid plants, same genus, unless you know beforehand that one or another of them is a species, you'd never be able to tell the difference. No possible way in the world. So snobbery over something that isn't discernable just strikes me as somewhat ridiculous. Not like snobbery over a particular brand of well-made shoe, for example, compared to something shoddy. That, at least, I can understand the motivation for.
So for me, if I like the plant, if I like the flower, I'll buy it. (I do like to know the name of what I'm getting, though, species or whatever, so I'm not a particularly big fan of NOIDS.....). But species snobbery? Waste of mental time, as far as I'm concerned.
