My New Phal . . . A Birthday Present

This is a birthday present I received from my partner, but I don't know what kind of Phal it is, it has a lovely colour and is of good size. He has seen me struggling with reviving my orchids from almost "dry" to a state in which they are flowering now.
PS- sorry about the sloppy upload, I tried in every way I could to post it upright but I think I just don't know what/how to do.

Cannot help with the identification of your phal, but it is a beautiful color. And to help with rotating your images, use the OrchidTalk image editor here: Image Editor for OrchidTalk - OrchidTalk Orchid Forums - Grow Orchids! and just rotate your image, save it, and then upload to the forum. (Two ways to rotate - 1. Use the Edit>Free Transform and custom rotate your image, or, 2. Use select Image>Rotate canvas

I can't help with the i.d. either. It reminds me of a white Baldan's Kaleidoscope (but the background on that one is really yellow/orange). It probably has some Phal. amabilis and Phal. equestris in its ancestry, but the Phal hybridizers are on something like their 25th generation of hybrids, so the species origin is pretty obscure unless you have the exact i.d.

Very pretty blooms and a nice picture - looking forward to seeing it upright!

With all the phal hybridizing going on, and the many growers who just grow to sell without even registering names, ID'ing most NOID (unknown phals) is pretty close to impossible. But, it is a lovely phal, and a terrific birthday present. Happy birthday!

Very nice Phal there. Are the blooms large? Around 5 inches or less?

Thanks Kathi! Hi Jai, the blooms are 4.5 inches across. . . the petals do look as intricate as moth's wings. I am slowly getting used to the experts' terminologies

Would go for the ID of Noid to be honest Gurj. Commercialism of phals and the hybrids is incredibly numerous and internationally widespread. Possibly the parentage can be confirmed but could be a long wait. A greenhouse full of phal hybrids in bloom would look incredible and incredibly varied and adore the presence of them in my collection.

Theres quite a fan base for these and a lot of growers have a soft spot for them. have seen some beautiful stunning blooms.

Unless you decide to cross plants someday a name is just a name. Noid plants can be fun as you get to name them. That one is lovely...someone has a very good eye.
