Help PLEASE.....Phal leaf question.

I have Two phals that have been in Semi-Hydro for 3 years now and they are doing great.
A week ago a spot appeared on a leaf which made me uncomfortable, now the leaf is turning yellow...can you please help me, should I cut the leaf off or would it be able to recover.



Medium: LECA Hydroton
ventilation is very good, I have a small fan that is on about 16 hours a day
I fertilize once a week using a foliage fertilizer.
I water once a week, fill the pot to the top and let it drain.

Hi Johnny you better cut the lesion as soon as possible this is very contagious to me and to other plant too and please isolate and spraying with some fungicide.Zain

I agree with Zainal. Be sure to seal the cut edge (inside the healthy tissue) of the leaf with cinnamon or sulfur powder.

I would first try cutting inside the healthy tissue before cutting the entire leaf off. Others might suggest getting rid of the entire leaf. You also should add a fan or be more careful about water staying on the leaf surface after watering. You should be able to save this orchid. Good luck to you.

To be on the safe side, I'm going to get rid of the entire leaf. I have a fan, it has been installed since 2 weeks and is on for about 16 hours a day. as for watering, I never pour water on the leafs, I am very careful about that.
When i fertilize I spray the outer parts of the leafs and place the plants directly in the shade in an air current.

Hi Johnny,

I leave my fans running on my orchids 24 hours a day - every day. Mater remaining on your phal leaf is most likely the cause of the fungal spot, that is the only reason I suggested a fan and being careful about water remaining on the leaf. I am sure there are other reason as well. Good luck with your plant.

Good I would have also recommended cutting of the entire leaf and sealing the cut edge with a fungicide powder or cinnamon powder. Withold spraying the plants and try and move the plant to a warmer and brighter spot.

Regarding fertilizing, can I water the plants with the fertilizer instead of spraying it on the leaves?
