Paph mishap

So, right now I am acting as an intermediary for a friend in Rhode Island who isn't a member of this site (though I keep trying to get him to join into the fun...but he's mostly a euphorbia and pachypodium guy). Anyway...he has a new paph that had a spike on it and while shuffleing things around, he accidently knocked off the bud from the spike. Will the plant say " !" and put out another bud? or will it go..."ok, well if you're going to be that way, I am just going to concentrate on growth"?

My guess is growth, but I figured I'd ask.

If there aren't any more buds developing and there was just the one, and it's now beheaded, that's it. The plant will your friend Michael, rest up for a bit, and concentrate on growth.

Boy - who hasn't beheaded one of their plants.... Tell him to look at it as giving the plant to develop into a 'speciman size' plant.
