just as a little proof that my wild tales of orchid life here in taiwan aren't just a bunch hogwash... once again, just walking home from the grocery store after a long days work... belly full of street food dumplings... in the trash heap near a bus stop at the end of my street... there sat a discarded celebratory orchid display!
the flowers weren't even in bad shape, and the 7 plants with spikes are all very strong and will most definitely continue to flower after i cut the stems back... these street orchids are tuff ;-)
only thing is, i really dont have room for them nor do i particularly love the flowers, but ill pot them up and distribute them to people i know least likely to kill them! (im sure ill end up staking a few to one of my big slabs of fern board just cuz...)
see, folks, i don't tell tales...maybe exaggerate a bit some times... but what's life without some color!

good grief! Glad you are giving these a second chance. AND thanks for adding some color here too.
I often wonder what happens to all those fantastic New Years displays. Around here, the only thing you can scavenge after a celebration is Tulip bulbs. . .
