    Default Vanda Roman Empress

    This is my monster Vanda, V. Roman Empress ( V. Kultana Gold x V. sanderiana alba ) in spike and about to bloom.

    As you all know that I grow my Vandas under HID lights, I am worried the heat from the light might damage those buds. What would you think? The distance in between is less than a foot now. Due to the size ( nearly 3' wide), I am so reluctant to move it around.

    Yeah, I agree. Usually if you move them the buds don't like that....if it was me i'd leave it. But maybe one of our vanda gals will know better...i'm still a newbie when it comes to messing up vandas. lol

    You should try moving the light a bit higher and/or using an extra fan.

    Naoki, I am not really sure about adjusting/moving your light, but with a name like 'Roman Empress' I am really looking forward to seeing these blooms! Dinner Plate flowers I have not seen since I raised Dahlias many years ago. Sounds fantastic! AL

    Move it...I have no problems moving them. You can drop it down some You saw I moved all of mine in spike around. I don't remember if I've seen this one before. I can't wait to see the pictures.

    Ok, I ended up moving it very very carefully. Now three of them are open, but I am waiting them to get larger.
