    Cool My pond blooms 2012

    Finally got some time to take the camera outside to see the pretty pond blooms this spring. This plant is determined to live. It has been in this same pot for several years now and never moves from this spot. This past winter it was frozen in the water, but yet it still comes back.

    I love irises....and the purple shade of yours is one I just love. My dad used to grow irises in the backyard and they were almost that exact color. So pretty!

    I love the dogs The pond looks great! The iris looks like versicolor. It looks stunning in the water. Bruce have you ever grown Black Gamecock? It is very dark and lovely.

    Hi Cathy, the iris is versicolor, I believe. It is actually more blue than purple, just the light and the photographer (me) not doing so great in getting the right color. I have never grown or heard of Black Gamecock. I will look it up online and see what the blooms are like. Thanks.

    Just did a google image search - WOW. What a pretty iris. I love it. Betty gave me some iris plants that grow on land back in December. They should be blooming soon too. I had some white ones and she gave me some blue and red. Looking forward to them too...

    Bruce, You will like BGC. I have a friend that hybridizes lilies. He specializes in Aussies and Victorias. You should try some of the Victorias. You could over-winter them in the GH.
