No, 'Pumpkin Patch' is the growers name...it just had't been awarded before. It is a cloned variety already, so all Catatante 'Pumpkin Patch' orchids are the same genetically.
But, it IS an apt name, isn't it?

Yew, from what I am told, the judges were very taken with the color and the pattern on the blooms (some of the subtle shadings don't show up well in the photo). And of course, the credit for all that goes to the breeder, not me...I'm still just happy to have any blooms! Other awards for different cultivars in the grex were for lplants with numerous inflorescences... if I can grow this one to that size, it will be a really amazing show.
