Orchid with large black spots

Have been doing well with orchids in South Florida. My neighbor gave me a plant that has large black spots on its leaves. Before I place it with my other ones I would like to know if this is a diseased plant. I found two answers when searching, either sun damage or fungus. I was hoping someone here would know which it is. Thanks

You are right could be fungal/viral or sun induced, to be on the safe side I suggest to cut the affected side and cover the raw area with cinnamon powder or crushed garlic.

Oh, that is a severely sunburned plant. In order to avoid getting a fungal or bacterial infection to the plant, I would also recommend what Zainal already told above, or else just water the plant at the roots and avoid making the leaves with the affected areas wet. Soon the plant will absorb what little is left of the nutrients in the tissue and the affected leaves will fall off. I would recommend you hold this plant away from your other plants till it starts recuperating and has dropped the affected leaves.

It looks like sunburn to me. The angle of the sun is changing this time of year and it may have suddenly been exposed to more light than it's used to. Move it to an area that gets less light.

Thanks all, took your advice and cut off damaged parts of leaves. Have located it away from my other ones, and will see what happens.
