What to do with a flowering orchid -

As we all know, orchids need light. In most cases, they need lots of light. So, when your wonderful plant finally blooms, what exactly do you do with it? You can't very well keep it in the back room on the windowsill, or outside on balcony - nobody (including yourself) will ever get to appreciate the flowers that way. At the same time, you can't remove it from light for as long as the flowers last, either, because in some cases that could be 1-4 months. It's a bit of a catch-22 situation, isn't it? What do you y'all do in this instance? I know when my Phal. was in full bloom, I would only display it when I had company over, otherwise it would stay in its original windowsill in the back room. However, there just wasn't enough time with my flowers that way.

I put mine wherever I want while they are in bloom. I don't believe it hurts them at all. Light is extremely important during the active phase for producing strong new growth and energy for blooming...during the bloom period, I'd guess that the plants are using mostly previously stored energy. Of course, I could be terribly wrong. And this really wouldn't apply to plants that are constantly growing.

That's kind of what I was thinking. They need all the light energy they can get in order to bloom, so while they're in bloom the mission has been accomplished. But as you said, for plants that are in a constant growth cycle (i.e. Vandas) it seems tricky. Actually, all of my plants are consistently in a growth cycle...there's never a rest.
