Tiffany, You can check out thrift stores. They usually have humidifiers that are used and cheap. I honesty would opt for orchids that will do well in the house. Vandas get enormous. You can buy T8 fixtures pretty cheap. A wire book shelf and you should be hooked up.

And wrap it with shower curtains to keep humidity.
