Need advice root or spike?

Usually i'm good at identifying between roots and spikes however this one i'm just not that certain and would like some advice... I'm leaning towards a roots because i can't see a distinct mitten but it seems to be growing upwards and not having signs of velamen .. hmmm

It seems to have a bit of bilateral symmetry rather than being perfectly round at the tip ... so I'm inclined to think it's a spike. You should know for certain in a few more days, these things grow fairly quickly.

Are you sure Desdinova? I can see two spikes emerging below the mystery growth in the top picture, but not above it (the angle of the pictures shows the roots at the top and the tip of the plant at the bottom).

Likely right. I know that phals will rarely send up spikes below the the others, though this is only based on my experience. Anyone know any exceptions?

this is what had me questioning it , it is very flat at the tip and the shape is " plump " and the colour is a light apple green. Well i shall keep you guys posted when it develops furthure this is so exciting!! Hence my love for Phals they keep us wondering
