    Default NOID odontocidium

ok, so i ran out for lunch to get one of those taragon chicken salad wraps i've been craving from one of those 'trendy' small markets in the area, and they were out. i had to get a meatball wrap, and knowing it was not going to be as good, i needed consolation. fortunately, they sell orchids.

not sure what it is, but it looks very similar to odontocidium Niels Christensen, just the pics i've seen of the one named Niels C "Tow" have a more orange blotch on the center of th lip. it has four spikes. one larger one from the side of one buld, and 3 coming of another, one fromt he side, and 2 out of the top of the bulb??? i've never seen an oncidium do that, i thought they always flowered from the side? there is also a spot on one leaf of an older bulb that might have some sort of fungus, not sure, but it looks like a wet spot, and is sticky undernieth. keeping an eye out, and sterile scissors on the ready. this thing apears to be in moss, so i will repot asap, as i don't think an oncidium can take that long term in my care, even though phals do well for me in sphag.

at the store, i noticed a faint scent, in the car it seemed to be from this plant for sure, and then in the darker office, no scent again, this morning, with bright light, it has a jasmine like smell. must be like sharry baby and enc. cordigera, light is a scent trigger.

Quite pretty, and a bonus I would say to the Tarragon Chicken wrap. Could I ask how you found the positive ID to this Oncid.?

through intense googling... and eventually i found the original grower. odd thing, there are a few variations on the name, but they are all the same variety, just listed incorrectly per the grower that developed it.
