How much angst do you suffer during dividing your orchid plants?

I usually prefer to let them grow into specimens, but will divide if the plant has already divided itself, just can't be dealt with, or I plan on giving someone divisions. I have also sometimes divided but put all into the same pot to get a less unwieldy plant that will still be a decent size.
I also repot all new aquisitions.

As I have very limiting space in my appartment for speciment plant :-( I have to divide my plants every time it grow out of the pot, no room for more pots :-( .
I though cant sell my collection of "larger" species as I do want to have those species and I "store" them for the future possibility to get more space or even a greenhouse.
The good thing is that I have no hard feeling to cut up large plant when a need to do that. When rot has started in the rizome of the Cattleya allience, hard pruning is essential to save some part of the plant. Lost some great Sophronitis as I have been to sentimental in the past.

Because of this very reason, I chose to change the way I potted. Now I use plastic basket pots and use just inorganic media like charcoal, LECA etc, add just very less coconut husk chips. I do not repot at all, when the rhizome creeps outside the pot, I let it, then the new growths and their roots are hanging freely in air. Then simply I snap them and plant them in new pots, without disturbing the mother plant.
