Grammatophylum In Baskette

So this is sort of similiar to a post I made earlier. I am thinking of putting my new Grammatophyllum Citreon (as listed on website, don't know if this is the same as citrinum) in a basket. As most of you know these get very large. What do you do when it has outgrown the basket? It seems that baskets do not come in extra extra large sizes. Are you making DIY baskets or do you move your Gramm to pot culture? If you are able to move to a basket, what do you do with the air roots that this species is known for?

I have a small speciosum now in a basket, but I know and I have come to terms with it, that someday it is going to get very big and then it will not be potted/mounted/ put in basket or anything it will just grow on my greenhouse floor, I may just put some net around the base to create a pseudobasket. But it wil be long before I need to do that, till then it is happy in its basket pot

Thanks for the links. I don't think the Citrinum is known to get quite that large! lol I will grow the new one in a basket from the start. I have a leopord in a pot and now I am thinking I should have put that in a basket as well. It is doing well in the pot with 5 new growths since I brought it home a few months ago.

I grow my Gramms in clay pots. 6 inch for the smaller specimens. I just moved my "baby" into a 10 inch pot, where I think it will stay for a while. I grow mine with River rock and hydroton. It was formerly in an 8 inch pot. When broke the pot open, I discovered the roots were pretty dense in there already. I just moved it the bigger pot without disturbing the roots (there were no dead roots) and filled in around the gaps.

Nice. I have two, my Leopard is in an 18" pot now. It is over potted but based on what I've read and the amount of growth mine has had (5 now growths) I don't think it will be over potted for long. My smallest is a citrinum(sp?) that is in a 5" pot. I really like these and for the reason most don't, their size!
