"Death Door" orchid shelf

This is a UFO catt from my first set of orchids and it has been giving me, as we say down here, bizzick to grow. Bark, S/H haven't worked so far to get the roots going but S/H did get the grows with the arrows a few months back. I got sick and the roots all dried up, but the circles show the latest set of growth. Going to mount it tomorrow to see if it does well like the other catts I have.

Fuzzy but you can see the fighting Alohi has put out a second root.

This is a Phal "Porto" that isn't very cooperative since I got it earlier this year, did an experiment on it since it had a really long rhizome, I cut it and a keiki grew from the cutting (forgot to take a pic of that).

However the rest of the keikis that are still on the plant and the phal itself are now looking responsive in S/H. Fingers crossed.

This cactus was close to it's demise with a little help from my watering can toting son. I moved it to the shelf and tada... it flowered an now putting out new growth.

These 2 are my heart and soul. The large emerging leaves among my tube roses is a June lily. My mum loved these and grew them for a long time before she got too sick to garden. After she died I tried to get them to flower but they'd always put out leaves then die, four bulbs have put in an appearance and I am hoping that I get to see them this year. Ten years is a long time.
The other plant that was my mother's, and one of her favourites, is the tree-ish looking fern to the left behind the June lily. I had used my cutlass on it to save it from being grossly pot bound. That new plant came from a bug infested, half rotted piece that I had chucked into an old feed bag to put into the compost and forgot it.

On that phal, are all those green nubs keikis? Because holy to the moly if they are. These are all wonderful and inspiring pics, btw. I'm trying my first hardcore rescues right now.

Yup, Victoria, those are potential keikis and thanks. The possibility of all of them developing is almost 0, but hopefully there will be at least 2 out of the ten. I'm crossing my fingers and everything else, I'll even cross something for your rescue, .

My rescues are in earlier stages than yours, but looking like likely successes so far. What happened to me was that I finished a PhD, and just didn't do anything, at all, for about 6 months or so. It's a known phenomenon for PhDs in the humanities. But about 3/4 my orchids died and the rest were, well, in about the shape you'd imagine for being neglected for that long. They're coming along, though -- I have a couple in sphag and bag, and there are new leaves/shoots on all those starting, and new growth on nearly every one of the rest. My Den. smilliae broke *four* leads, and my Enc. cordigera, three, and they all seem to be proceeding well. It was depressing when I went in and cleaned everything out, but now it's pretty exciting.

I'm going to choose to imagine all ten keikis take off, just because it would look so strange and wild. And you never know. Orchids are strange and wild, even the heavily mixed hybrids.

I'd love it if they all developed. I'm waiting with my fingers crossed for all of the resurrected plants and hoping they all flower sooner than never. Thanks for the encouragement, every little bit helps.

For the catt, try sphag-n-bag. Method often works quite well.

The cactus isn't a cactus but rather a succulent. It is some type of Haworthia though whether a species or hybrid I cannot ascertain.

Difficult to tell from the photo, but the fern looks like it may be some sort of asparagus fern (and if it is, then it isn't actually a fern atall )

Although it hasn't flowered for you, would you happen to have a picture of the flower of this "June lily"? Curious if someone might be able to get its scientific name. From there, might be able to find out more about what culture it wants.

Thanks for the info Pavel, you'r right about the cactus, I knew it was looking wrong when I typed it but I didn't remember what to write. The brain getting a bit fuzzy. I found a pic of the "June Lily" on line,

I'm impressed with the success of your ICU, but then, perhaps I wouldn't mind being nursed back to health somewhere as lovely as Barbados, either!
