Show us your orchid spikes....

sharry baby is still going, just barely able to see the buds now. dang this thing grows so slow. i thik this spike will do much better than the one last february indoors. taking its sweet time, but going to be so full of flowers... soon. ok maybe not soon enough but SOMEDAY. and my vanda paki which i thought had aborted the spike is finally beginning to develope.

i finally gave up on the vanda paki. then it started growing again. i cannot get over you haveing 9 spikes on your sharry baby. that is gonna be incredible!

the purple epi spike grew over 3 feet taller than the leaves... just beginning to show buds too, and a second spike is coming out now. another yellow epi is also spiking now, but it is smaller so should be blooming before the purple one.

Nope. I've bought most this year and 8/10 of them have never reached their first blooming yet, so I have no way of knowing whether my care is shit or if they're just not old enough. They're all rather big and have plenty of pseudobulbs. We'll see. Maybe I just have a bunch of fall bloomers.

Way to think positive Kelly , maybe fall is your time .

Wow! This summer has definitely not been the greatest bloom-wise for me. My long awaited paph was eaten by a grasshopper relative within three days of opening, my angraecum didieri was ruined by hail on the second day, and my burr. spike was affected by the heat and too much light (the spikes are short). The only real summer success was my podangis but the blooms are so small, my orchid society was clearly not impressed. My orchid society must wonder if I really do grow orchids. I do have a nameless phal beginning to bloom and so far, nothing has taken a nibble. On the plus side, I have had really good growth this summer. Most of my orchids are still not mature enough to bloom so I see each new growth as bringing me closer to blooms. Congratulations to everyone on their new growth, spikes and blooms! I hope, Kelly, your orchids will grace you with blooms this fall and winter.

I went out earlier to check the dendrobium and vanda plants. It is definitely their spiking/blooming season here in zone 9.

Wow Connie! What a show you'll have! Congratulations That's quite a pretty little dend. there on the bottom...be sure to post pics when all of the spikes are showing off!

Houston is zone 9 also and one of my dends is sending out two spikes one what i thought was a dead cane (could be keikis but to early to tell) and 1 off a new growth. Looking forward to seeing what they look like, the dend was a NOID for one of the home improvement stores.
