If the basket has any loose slats that can be removed, or cut off; I'd try that first. Then find a basket you can set the smaller basket into. If there are sections on the outside that are large enough, I remove them and establish them onto a separate basket/mount so the original basket will fit into a larger basket without the risk of a section rotting in the middle of a bunch of roots and wood. Schomb's are way tough. If necessary, take a hammer and whack the thing, or get a saw and start making cuts (trying to leave at least two or three pbulbs per bunch), until it comes apart in sections. With certain plants there is no way to be nice about repotting. Just take a deep breath and saw away. I've been known to intentionally throw pots on the ground to make getting it off/out of the clay pot easier...but then i'm mean that way. lol
