When I am preparing to repot I soak the plant first and that usually has physan and superthrive in the water. As I go along I also swirl the roots around in the solution to help remove loose particles. I scoop out the junk that floats on top of the water so each time I clean the roots i'm not redepositing stuff on the roots. Also; roots in the middle may not have gotten too much physan to them initially, so when I am finished I do on last swirl in the water. And I pour my old solution on potted plants and plants around my yard. It is amazing what that stuff does for my yard plants. I am thinking that may also be why i'm having less trouble with scale and such. My yard plants now have bug protection too....and it makes for less bugs overall on my orchids. Win win...lol!
