yes,i'm happy to get this guy for the size,my biggest size what i have was only 6" pot but this one was out grown from both size of it's own pot.i've got it with such a good deal

from your post, you are growing it outside under the shade. are cattleyas that hardy? i am also from california but from san jose ( bay area).
any advice out there if it is ok for me to grow my future cattleyas outdoor?

I can't give so much advise about growing out door because for me it's first year to put them outside,some of mine still in shade area,cover with shade cloth and last 3days I start to put plastic for coming winter.i need to keep my eyes on the forecast also.
