Personally I think it is a bit of a scandal the way the RHS Register is so user unfriendly on-line. The Registrar himself is a helpful chap , but one doesn't want to pester him ( and maybe he would not be quite so friendly if I did send him a question every time I got stuck ! ) But then, the RHS is a law unto itself - or as I always say when I pretend to defend it - "Its the best RHS we've got" and my opinion of it is so high that I resigned my membership - after 50 years - a couple of years ago.
Agree 100% re: the user-unfriendliness, I wish they'd just update their search engine to allow an option for results from near-misses; the partial matching is decent but something as simple as a misspelled or partially illegible tag can entirely defeat most people's efforts to look up a name. The new issues with so many duplicate names due to expansion of Cattleya are also annoying, though unlike many I don't place blame with the molecular taxonomists (I enjoy new understandings of outdated generic concepts, even if not completely final) but rather I think allowing registration of identical names in closely-related genera in the first place was unwise (though of course that ship sailed years ago)... All in all, the RHS is a truly amazing organization that does far more good than ill.
