Thanks Amey!
Update: Well, someone in another forum told me to MAKE NO MISTAKE....this plant has a SERIOUS PROBLEM, and it must be dealt with swiftly before my entire collection turns into a bunch of rotten schlock. I decided to err on the side of caution, so I removed the damaged areas last night. Actually, the plant looks quite a bit better now. Miraculously, there were only a couple of leaves that were badly affected, so I had to remove 80% of one leaf and about 20% of two others, and then everything else looked fine. It has quite a few full, healthy leaves left, and due to the fact that the "surgeries" went neatly and cleanly, it still looks presentable and I think it could still make a nice gift for my dad. I'll wait until the wounds heal up completely and pass it on to its new happy home.
I've done partial leaf removals before, and I've always had great success, so I am optimistic that this plant will keep on going like nothing even happened. Thanks as always for your help!!
I'll try to remember to take a pic of it post-surgery so you can see how much better it looks!![]()
