Based on the other pics I've seen, many in the grex look too much like sad puppies for my taste. I like this one quite a bit though – the parvi-style lip is to my eye much nicer in this grex than those that have more cochlo-like lips, and the petals don't droop too terribly much. I do wish the dorsal was a little wider at the base, so there was less 'windowing'

Anyhow, I'm thinking of pollinating this with my Henrietta Fujiwara. Any advice on that front is welcome.

That's a neat idea for a cross, Sue. I have an HF currently in bloom, if you're looking for pollen.

Thanks Julie, but I've got one in bloom too. Otherwise the cross probably wouldn't have occurred to me.

I think the reason I like both this one and the HF so much is that the Cochlopetalum shape and color isn't so dominant as it often is in Cochlo hybrids. I like Cochlos, but a lot of the intersectional cochlo hybrids look kinda the same as one another.

So which would you use for the pod?

I know I'd go for the HF, hoping to get a tall spike of sequential blooms, but that might be too much cochlo for you...
