I leave some of my orchids out on my deck regardless of temps. They are under shadecloth and snuggled into a corner near the water heater. Other than that, they are on their own! My climate is nice though...it may freeze (rarely), but a daytime high below 60f is very uncommon. This outdoor group includes a pair of laelias (anceps and purpurata) and a pair of Aussie dendrobiums (kingianum and specio-kingianum) along with whatever paph hybrid that I have. I leave the majority out whenever we are forecast lows in the thirties only briefly...phals, bulbos, etc.
