Cattleya Penang `Black Caesar'

Hi guys here is my C. Penang `Black Caesar' with 4 more blooms coming and another sheath ready to go! I placed it inside the house to enjoy its blooms but will have to rotate it to develop the buds and sheath. I am also showing my heat tolerant Cymbidium One Tree Hill it gave me 4 spikes and no sign of blast. I hope this can become a specimen, cymbidiums are so tricky in my area I gave up on them but still trying

Thank you. I got it plus others from a Hawaiin grower that specializes in them and says they are grown at sea level

Beautiful blooms. Love Black Ceasar. Mine has not bloomed yet. When it does I hope it is as beautiful as yours. Congratulations on the cymbidium. It is lovely.

Its interesting seeing some of the Catt's appearing in forums and catalogs. This one for instance has been around since the mid' 1960's.. A lot of the "new" release catts have been around & for sale since the 1970's. Nothing wrong with them, it just amazes me with the amount of "new" catt's around, these are still being sold.

Still a beautiful catt. That lovely cymbidium is on my wish list seeing that it is heat tolerant.

I don't have too many new catts Roy, they are pretty but I have always preferred the classics and primary hybrids. There is just something about them that evokes the look of a cattleya. I have tried peloric catts and dizzy color splashes but I always preferred my faithful oldies

Darn Cymbidiums- I'm in Southern England, but even here they are a lot of work (for me anyway- but I always want the easy life!) You have a great heat-tolerant breed there. You should do well with the lowland species which are naturally heat-loving and do not need temp fluctuations to flower... but I have not had much success with those either!!! You should do fine. Only thing is- they are much smaller and daintier, but some are scented. I hope to get mine up and running somehow.
