I hate flowers that point down. This phal is mounted on a clay jug. It has 8 little flower spikes. But every flower that opens is pointing downward. It makes it impossible to display. Very frustrating.

Lovely phal. Very well grown plant and obviously very happy with all those spikes.
Wonderful flowers! AL
What a great idea! I love this - and such a pretty orchid.

Nice mount, at the Portland fall AOS members meeting and show there was a similar concept (an olla) of a clay mount that looked like a little tree that was hollow that you filled with water, i bought one from the lady and have attached a Cattleya orpetii to it wec'll

That is nature for most of the phal species, I was told by my friends during buds time if we spraying with mineral/ ion Calcium such as Calcium chloride/gluconate the flower will point upwards it's happen to Phaius trankervillae so far I never try it maybe we can try as experiment.
Very beautiful Phal, Ed, very well grown. Congratulations.
