Blooming Miltoniopsis

My latest bloomer hailing from my pleated leaves section. LOL

Nice waterfall lip types here. The pleated, or corrugated, leaf seems to be due to a shortage of water at a critical stage - but extra watering is not the answer. What is needed is a better root system - if you find an easy answer to providing that, I'm the first in the queue to know. But it does seem to disappear in subsequent years if the plant is kept happy.

The blooms on this Miltoniopsis orchid are so nice. I love the tear drop pattern on the petals.

Thanks, everyone! They are actually a shade darker than what the picture shows.

They smell like carnations also. My other type of Miltoniopsis does also. I'm not sure if all of them do.

I don't have a label for this one either, so I'm not sure what it is called. Actually, I have the label it was shipped with, but it certainly isn't what the label says. For some reason, I keep the label in the pot anyway. LOL

wooow! Those petals are so special! seems like glow in the dark effect!

This is closer to the dark velvety blood red color of the petals. For some reason it doesn't come out perfect on my iPhone, but these pictures are better (or closer to the actual shade).

Actually, consistent watering is probably more to blame than anything with these. They don't like it if they need water and I put it off for a day or more. I think they are one of the pickiest water-wise of any of my orchid types. There are other factors that affect this, such as my choice of potting medium this time around, but I'm working through those problems hopefully. :<}
