I can see how international trade can be policed, but I think it would be much harder to stop collection that stayed within the country.

hobbyists here don't photograph orchids in the wild, in situ. The only person I am sure who did that lately was Jim Cootes, the Australian author who wrote The Orchids of the Philippines, 2001.

For someone like me to hike to the mountains for around two days to take photos of orchids in the wild ? I've never even remotely considered doing that.
