    Default Maxillaria variabilis 'aurea' (yellow)

I have had this for over a year but it is the first time it has bloomed for me. In October it started putting out a single bloom every now and then. In December it went in to full bud and now they are opening. Has a very nice fragrance. Blooms are long lasting if the first couple that were produced in October/November are any indication. This one supposedly can bloom anytime during the year but with heaviest bloom in winter/spring. I grow it with my catts so it is shaded by them. When the buds are first forming they appear to be new growths.
