    Default Paph St. Swithin

    first blooming of this, 3 blooms. I have moved my paphs to my porch for protection a few months ago, but am thinking of moving them back outside. The leaves are not folding out nicely and I wonder if it's too little water and sun. I have seen some older posts of this here and I am impressed with the size and number of blooms from a mature plant. I started growing paphs because of an article I found online by a Florida orchid club, testing which types of paphs grow well here, they stated that some of their multifloral paphs grew in cattleya light,any advice or comments appreciatedName: paph swithin 2 (Copy).jpg Views: 692 Size: 40.4 KBName: paph swithin 1 (Copy).jpg Views: 2905 Size: 37.4 KB

    Really love this one. I can hardly wait for mine to bloom. I didn't know that you could grow these outdoors due to crown rot. Any opinions on growing them outdoors?

    I'm sure that St. Swithin would be impressed with your blooms. Sorry I can't help with your questions, but I thimk the important thing here pertains to it's namesake. St. Swithin's Day is July 15th of each year. Therefore are your blooms early or late? AL

    A real beauty. I don't have a St Swithin but wish I have, but I have both the parents - rothchildianum and philippinense and I grow them both outdoors 24/7 under cattelya light. Both are growing very well, except the rothchildianum won't bloom because the night temperature is not low enough. I have posted pictures of both of these paphs.

    I love Swithins - very dignified paphs. Don't underestimate the amount of light decrease you may have put your paphs through - the green strap-leaved ones seem to thrive with more light and water than the Maudiae-types or mottled-leaved. But really - I have always found crown rot to be the biggest danger in caring for the multi and sequential bloomers. I often think they're getting more ventilation than they really are.

    Oh that is a real beauty wonderful primary hybrids I had it previously but refused to bloom finally got fungal attacked and already sent to heaven.
