Default Phal. Sogo Rose 'Sogo F-987'

This is a slightly fragrant dark, dark red. It reblooms on old spikes but only with 1 or 2 new flowers.

Yes I can tell you the secret. I buy orchids that have a reputation for putting out a lot of spikes. The vendor had a description of this plant on his web-site that said it usually blooms on multiple spikes and it also reblooms on old spikes from last year. One spike is from the keiki also. I leave keikis in place for years so they can bloom along with the mother plant.

It would take a couple of pages to explain everything that I'm doing. My philosophy on watering is that I like to have most my orchids potted in a way that they dry quickly and I can water often. I can do that now because I'm retired and I have the time. I couldn't do it when I was still working. I generally fertilize once a week. I've used many different kinds of fertilizers. During the fall and winter I alternate between a regular fertilizer and a bloom booster fertilizer. I give two supplements. I give Maxicrop Liquid Seaweed twice a month and I give Magical calcium/magnesium supplement twice a month. It can be added to the fertilizer but since I have the time, I give them separately. I have one big advantage that I live in South Florida and the weather is hot and humid. I grow everything outdoors. Just experiment around and see what works best for you. Good luck.
