yes, time! but then there is the problem of just to many choices and not enough room for everything. The only thing that saves me is the fact that the local orchid nursery is by appt only except around mother's day ( oh, and I think they open wine barrels around that time too)

Hi everyone, and thanks for the b-day wish from the site. So, now I am staring at my lone 3 orchids. My wildcat I don't think is going to bloom this year. I still have fingers crossed but I think I should have seen something by now. It blooms so beautiful in 2011, last yea it bloomed but not as fruitful. I had to transplant it. Roots going everywhere and it didn't seem to have much support. I might of put it in the wrong type of mix. It seems to stay moist longer than I think is right. But it doesn't seem to look to bad on top. So , not sure why no bloom this year. The other is the blc Tainan Gold 'Canary' that I purchased I guess back in the summer of 2008. It had a rough life while I remodel the kitchen. It was growing ever so slowly. well when I repotted the wildcat. I gave it the wildcats old home, well it has gone crazy growing the last year. So, I am wondering when or if I will see a bloom on it? Is there a size they need to be? it was probably not much more then an inch when I got it (head to toe) now it is about 11" from dirt to tallest leaf end. Any there anything special I should be doing. It hangs out in an east window. the other one I have I bought at boxstore last year. the flowers were following off, so they were wanting to get rid of them I think I paid like 3 bucks.. It was hard to choice between one that I could still tell what color they flower was and buying what looked like the healthiest root system. I went with the latter. It has been growing pretty good. A couple of new leaves. I don't know what it is. It has flat broad leaves and round thick roots that seem to be growing everywhere. I have never cut off the flower spike cause it is still green. It comes out between 1st and 2nd set of leaves, which is about all it had when I got it. should I go ahead and cut it off? Well sorry for being a part time orchid-teer. But I do keep them a live (kinda). Also DH made me a green house this year. (guess he thought I wanted one). So, I am thinking probably not a good idea to put them in there. As, it gonna get hit pretty hard with the summer afternoon sun. ( he built it to start garden plants in). Well take care everyone, and thanks again for the b wishes
