A plant I bought at a Society auction 3 or 4 years ago , paying virtually nothing since it had no roots. Is now growing nicely thank you - in fact these are the nicest flowers of the species I have seen for a long time, if I do say so myself and shouldn't. Has a third growth too , not quite strong enough to flower i seems., but maybe next year...

Has often been used in hybrids in attempts to get that colour into Oncidiums or Odontoglossums, but usually produce rubbish which no-one wants. Goes to prove that the pure species are sometimes the only thing !

very nice rescue Geoff. The color is stunning! I have seen some nice crosses with this as one parent, such as Adaglossum Mandarin and Kriegerara Chinese Tiger.

Beautiful vibrant colour. Unfortunately have never seen one of these cool growing orchids except in pictures.

Geoff, you've done it again! Lovely, very interesting orchid. How large is your green house(s)?

It's the only elastic greenhouse in the world haha...more seriously I grow in two layers, one on the bench, the other up in the air- something like 10 lines extending the length of the house for hangers for pots, and more recently for lots of plants mounted on pieces of branch ( I live on the edge of what is officially called "The New Forest" - created by William the Conqueror in the year 1069 - no typo here ! which is quite handy for picking up suitable sticks on my walks with my rambling club) . I'll stop avoiding the question ; it is 35 feet long and 15 feet wide, which is quite big by amateur standards I agree. It is actually a downsizing from the extent I had when I first retired, which amounted then to over 1000 sq feet. and I guess that if and when I get to feel old as well as be old, I will cut down some more, or maybe someone can tie my hands behind my back so I'll stop buying new plants, and space the old ones out a bit more.

Ah, your brilliant tangerine aurantiaca is at it again, Geoff! Brilliant! It seems to be settling into some kind of blooming pattern for you - last year it bloomed at the end of January, I think, and the year before, it bloomed in May. When, I wonder is the "official" blooming season for this orchid?
