As for growing conditions - I honestly don't even have a thermometer in this house, much less a hygrometer. We tend to keep the house a little cooler than most people prefer, so general household temperature is probably in the high 60s, and after doing some quick checks on my weather website average monthly humidity around here is typically high 50s-high 70s (down to a minimum of 15-20%, but that's again outside). My plants are grown in an east facing window that is not shaded most of the day except by the house and I keep them in damp trays of gravel (which I am guilty of sometimes allowing to dry out.) Depending on how much of a hurry I am in and how desperate my plants are when I finally connect the dots to water them, MOST of the time I will put the orchids in a bucket in the sink and run water over them then let them sit in it for a couple hours before picking them up, letting water drain off and putting them back in their trays. Sometimes I just pour water over the top but when I do that I try to give them a nice soaking soon afterward. Also recently since I picked up a clearance orchid with a keiki (odcdm st anthony of egypt) I have been misting the oncidiums once in a while (probably every day or two, daily if i remember). Mostly I think I don't water often enough because I really don't know how long it is between waterings... going to try to remember to start marking on my calendar to keep track. Its probably about a week and a half between waterings most of the time.
