Now that is interesting! Very exotic!

You did a nice buying spree at the show, Gabriela!
Yes, I had a lovely time and really enjoyed it. The Orchids I bought were all very interesting and the only once they had from that species. I was lucky to get them.
The vendor I help out at a couple shows had a couple of these at the last show. I managed to sell them both before the end of the show. Find it really nifty how the lips feel like plastic or thick wax.![]()
I like the bold color combination of the green, yellow and purple together on one bloom.
I love this orchid - and I haven't seen a good specimen of it yet at any of the shows or nurseries I've been to. I would think someone would have had it awarded at least an AM by now - there's a goal for you, Gabriela!
Hi.....so, first off, FANTASTIC PIC of one of my favorite varieties.... I have one of these guys, but mine is kinda sad....and maybe one of you that have one could help? I have no idea what to do for these, and don't want mine to croak. If I posted this in the wrong spot, could someone help me figure out where to ask? I'm new....
Anyway, if this is the right place:
I bought it --back before mother's day (mid-May) 2013, -it came to me with leaves that are reddish purple with green edges and wrinkly (, but not wilted and are holding their shape (not drooping or anything like that). I'm thinking that this plant got overexposed while living in their botanical gardens, as it only gets filtered bright sunlight from its new house (I grow all my orchids inside, in front of a window with full sun, but filtered w/ curtains). I'm new to any type of cattleya or epicattleya and am not quite sure on what they like, but it's sitting next to my cymbidium, oncydium, and a giant phal (who is in spike already! Yay!) also from the plant market, and all of them are fat, happy, lime green, and putting out new growths and roots very quickly in spite of me being lazy about feeding them.
I know my rene marques has issues because of the abuse the foliage looks like it has taken so far (especially compared to the lovely picture in a previous post), but the roots are not fabulous but definitely okay (and plentiful), and I've been keeping him on the dry side with some of the upper roots exposed, in fresh - orchid bark mix. The poor thing looks kinda "Charlie Brown Christmas tree"-esque, and I really want to keep this thing alive and would like to seem him bloom after a well-earned recovery. I see no new leaves, no new roots, no new shoots, but no dead leaves, no dead roots, and the stalks are green underneath papery outer sheaths (?), so I know the thing isn't dead....yet.... - it's just wrinkly and pathetic....and really, really, sad....
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
