It's very hard to really let loose with the proud mama act when they see almost everything I write about them - but NOT on here!
Here is a shot of the three of us, Abby, me, and Henry during Christmas week in Puerto Rico.
My beautiful daughter is graduating from Columbia on May 19th, having won the Chemistry Department Award, as well as the school wide excellence in departmental scholarship. She will begin a nine-year MD/Ph.D joint program at the University of Massachusetts (she is one of 12 students admitted into this elite group). After a lab segment this summer, she will do the first 2 years of Med School, then the next 4-5 years on her Ph.D, and finally, the last 2 years of Med School at the end - which, of course, concludes with the whole circus of residencies. Not only is she NOT paying for either degree, she is actually receiving a living stipend for each year.
Henry, my tall and handsome 18 year-old, is in the midst of a series of concerts, featuring him on first trumpet and some solos. He also just starred in a school play. Henry's going to Cornell University in the fall. Department and other awards have not yet been announced for the high school.
Abby and Henry are the reason I am in New England this month, and the primary reason I am trying desperately to function during this grieving process. Phillip would have been so proud of them!
Okay - I'm done, for the moment anyway. Thanks for indulging me!
