Thank You! That is so nice of you to say. I try to explain the things I do to help others with the same issues. And I've turned part photographer lately taking pics of every little thing that catches my fancy. lol Most people find my "long winded" tales abit much...and i'm often told I talk too much.

I took a picture the other day looking from the greenhouse area down to the bamboo and i'd say there are about 300+ plants....but I haven't counted in a long time. I have a nice large covered back porch area and in the summer time we call it the orchid bar. The guy that built the house put in a wet bar that has become my potting bench. In the winter they go into a greenhouse that is off the back of a long garage. The greenhouse is roughly 12 x 16 feet...if I remember correctly. So yes, I have quite a lot of space at my disposal for the 'chids. And thanks...i'll keep talking. So far people on here have been very nice about my chatty-ness.

those are great ideas to raise humidity. i have a few buckets of water under the shelf and keep my plants close together to raise humidity. sort of building a micro-climate on the balcony.

I found that the dirt, after sitting below vandas getting watered all the time, held the water better than trays. The water in the trays seemed to evaporate much faster. If I need a couple days off from watering, the dirt provided ample moisture. After I moved here and began hanging my vanda's over dirt I began noticing they grew much better roots. You just need to remember with all that moisture you'll need to spray for fungus and bacteria.

Actually, other than repotting, having this many makes it easier for me. I use the high sun plants to provide shade. And watering; well the husband enjoys getting up and watering the first time every morning for me. So unless it's hot or windy, I don't have to water every day if I don't want to. And I am basically a hermit these days so I have ample time to work with the plants. Really, unless we have company (or I have to see one of my doctors), i'm pretty much always home. I have a rather idyllic life for the most part. Oh and since you asked about it, I posted some pics of my growing area out back.

I have just one Nakamotoara , ( N.Joyce Hands) shown here recently. I grow it in sphagnum moss in a net pot or basket - currently have two pieces from a plant I grew large and then split up. Mine have 2 or 3 spikes every year . I think your plant may be too dry ? Not a criticism - but hopefully helpful !

More than likely, that is why I added that little bit behind it. I cannot grow anything in sphag here, it just rots the roots. Maybe it will adapt. It has a ton of roots you cannot see running up and down the wood. Maybe i'll add a second spot of coconut fiber for it.
