I have treated a small bit of scale on my Phals.
I want to sell most of my NOIDs at the garage sale my apt. building has in August. Is there any way to get the white dots off and make the leaves look nice? I do not have a large infestation and have been using alcohol on the leaves.

Try a toothbrush to scrub the scale off of the leaves. You can also use Sunoil or Neem Oil (pesticidal oils) with water to polish the leaves.

No, mix the oil in a spray bottle. Spray on plant to coat all surfaces. Then wipe it away with a soft cloth. Use the toothbrush to scrub away the hard scale spots. The Neem oil or Sunoil is to make the plant more presentable. It also helps to keep pest away, so that is an added bonus.

Does the oil ever cause photo sensitivity in the stronger light?

Yes, always read the label on pesticidal oils, most will state not to expose your plant to direct or strong light untill the oil as dried. This can cause burning of tissues, treated plants should be shaded until the application is dry. Take Care, Rich
