I have come back about five or six times now to stare at your pictures. The first picture looks so much like my lazy butt Tibiana that I baked this spring in the hopes of a spike. lol I will just stare at yours and drool until mine gets a clue and blooms. My schomb's aren't the only orchids that seem to do well when tended by ants. If I have spikes and ants are running up and down them I am almost insured that I won't lose a single bud. In fact it often means the plant itself is busting healthy as well. k..back to drooling over your pics![]()

But those ants look very dangerous to us if they sting, are they? Beautiful flowers but in my case I am allergic to any insect bite or sting so I guess from a distance would be fine.
Man, what a huge healthy orchid! Love the blooms and the long spikes.

i went and got one of these... my plant is pretty small, probably not blooming sized yet, only about 6" bulbs.
