Very good points, you have convinced me to go back to the bark. I hope they are roots! If it's a stem I should cut it right? I guess I just need some patience, it's not my greatest strength.

Be sure you soak the bark medium over night before you pot the plant. and also, make sure you have good air circulation. Also, don't put the plant in bright light. You want all the energy to go into growing new roots. make sure that the pot is very small, maybe a 2-3" pot. and don't plant it in a ceramic pot because you want the roots to have good air circulation around them.
