Some excellent photos, Steve! The pic of the grebes was particularly spectacular. In that shot, they reminded me somewhat of a loon (I believe "diver" is the UK term) in body form.
Never seen Salvia HotLips before. Very attractive. Name makes me wonder if the hybridizer was a fan of M*A*S*H.
The British Summer is usually a very brief affair but not this year. Good news for our dragon and damselflies. The first is the Emperor Dragonfly, our largest at about 6 inches long. The second is my favourite the Banded Damoiselle. The third is a Common Blue Damselfly with a housefly for lunch!

Just by way of giving this thread a nudge ...

Whoa! It looks like paradise!
Well, my summer garden is producing peppers and tomatoes.
Peppers
Canned pepper sauce
Tomatoes fresh from the water bath waiting to seal
Back Porch Canning
The final products - 19 jars!!
We have been eating lots of fresh peppers and tomatoes. I've made fresh salsa and all kinds of tomato dishes and salads. hahaha... I love the tomatoes and when it gets cold we'll use the canned tomatoes for soup.
cheers,
