the flowers shops I worked for mainly did business with the people living in Palm Beach, a very rich and exclusive town, for some reason white was the only color they liked, white houses, white walls inside, white furniture, white flowers, white cars, it was very boring.
your garden sounds fantastic.

Well. monochromatic can make a strong statement though. And that place you mentioned... we only see that on TV over here. And you are actually there! Wow!

I have a pocket garden Ed. A lot of ornamentals and orchids packed in such a small place. Foliage, texture, colors, fragrance all in one very small package.

Hello, Bob. I wouldn't know that much about outdoor temperatures in Tennessee. However, I believe you can hang your vanda outdoors during the warmer part of the year. Especially the vandas that prefer cooler climes. At least, it would be outdoors part-time. The ones in my garden though all thrive in this constant year-round 32 to 34 degrees Centigrade.

Your red Vanda is Kagawara (Ascocenda x Renanthera). I see you grow them beside semi-terete leaf vanda. Perhaps you could decrease the light a little bit more as strap leaf type can't tolerate full sun. Kagawara in general are very prolific bloomer, blooming several times a year. Temperature may play a factors depending on what Renanthera parents are involve.

Hello Wonderlen and thank you for the useful tips.

Below is a picture of my Kagawara Christie Low. The flowers are bigger and petals have a different form, and there are more flowers per spike compared to this unidentified vandaceous which has only 5 to 9 flowers each time it blooms.

But thank you for identifying that one. Now I know it's a Kagawara too.

The red color is so intense and that is interesting NOID vanda maybe next season will give you more flowers Angel.

Angel, the size of flower and petals really depends on what Renanthera parents are used and/or what generation is the hybrid. As you know, all renanthera has very narrow petals and big lateral sepals and that reflect on the flower shape. Not all Kagawara have loads of flower as smaller specie like Re. imschootiana, coccinea, produce less compare to big ones like Re. stonerii, phillipenensii. And they come from higher inland and not do flower well in lowland climate year round.
