    Default NOID Cattleya

In spite of my New Year resolution not to buy any more cattleyas, especially NOIDs, I fell for this NOID a few days ago. I hope someone can help to ID this one. I paid US $12 or it.

Oh yes the flowers measure 5 inches across and are very fragrant .... very much like Lc Mari's Song,

It tells an interesting story about its ma and pa, i.e. ancestry. The shape of that gorgeous lip, and the stripe that starts ad stops on the laterals, but too many hybrids share dowiana and aquinii, and what could possibly be so dominant for the alba ? Some double recessive genes I guess.
I would give it a nice name, and add "(URG)" meaning "unregistered grex".

Since this cattleya comes from Thailand I guess C Queen Sirikit would figure in the cross (that lip and overall white) and maybe Lc Irene's Song ( those splashes and yellow patches on the lateral petals).... but those short parallel stripes (where do they come from?)

That cattleya bloom does look familiar, but the unique purple to yellow striping in the center of the petals makes it hard to guess who it's parents might be. Lovely in any case and worth breaking the no buy rule.

    cheers,
